Indian Spice Remedies for 20 Common Diseases

Author: Bhushan Manchanda

Wayne Fields in the Nursery rhyme What the River Knows, 1990 has written:

"The best six doctors anywhere
And no one can deny it
Are sunshine, water, rest, and air
Exercise and diet.
These six will gladly you attend
If only you are willing
Your mind they'll ease
Your will they'll mend
And charge you not a shilling."

Given below are well tested and tried Indian spice remedies for 20 common diseases.

Many people are ignorant of the simple and painless methods used to save gas. By linking up with appropriate sources like Gas Buddy before buying gas you are sure to get gas at favourable rates.

Gas buddy is actually a website where records of prices from gas stations nationwide are kept. You can find the most economical stations in any city.

Maybe you’re of the opinion that it won’t make a difference when you save 25 cents every time you buy a gallon of gas but it will, at the long run. Also, it’s important to keep your car properly maintained, if you really want to save gas. To get your car running efficiently, always keep the engine tuned and don’t ignore it when there is a need for oil and air filter change. Every time you maintain your car you are actually saving gas.

The third tip to saving gas is -- don’t use the vehicle air conditioning too much. If it is always on when you are driving then you will never be able to effectively save gas, as a lot of gas is used up when the air conditioner is on.

Make use of it only when it is compulsory; for instance when the weather isn’t favorable. The technology of water cars also saves gas effectively.

Since you can set it up on your own, it’s an easy method of saving gas. You need to be sure about this technology by digging deeper and discovering facts that will help you save cost.

Gaining information won’t pose a problem if you visit the appropriate online sites.

But be careful not to rely on any information that suggests you run your car on 100% water. To own this type of complicated technology, you will spend a lot of your money, and you still won’t be 100% certain of its workability.

Surefire Tips To Overcome Fear of Public Speaking

Author: Leon Edward

For millions of people, public speaking is a fear that they cannot overcome. Some experts believe that it is because it is the fear of speaking to peers or people who the speaker perceives to know more about whatever subject they are speak about. This occurs even though to become a public speaker, one needs to be proficient in the subject.

Even the most seasoned public speaker will get butterflies in their stomach just before their appearance. No one is immune to this. It does not matter if you are speaking to a group of a thousand or a group of ten that little knot in your stomach is the fear that you will freeze at the podium or worse.

Studies have shown that the fear of public speaking is not an isolated event. One study showed that forty percent of people were so afraid to speak in public, that they could safely say that they would never consider a position where it was necessary.

There are many studies on this subject. One such study done was a study of fear. When the group in the study were asked question related to public speaking, seventy percent of them agreed that they would only speak in public in a panic situation.

In still another study, eighty percent of those asked responded that they would rather face eminent death before speaking in front of large crowds of people.

It takes a special kind of person to become a public speaker. It not only requires you to have knowledge on a specific subject, you also need to be strong and confident as well as skilled at the art of public speaking.

There are several things that you can do to perfect your public speaking skills if you choose to add this to your career. A good public speaker will create a lasting impression when they speak in front of a large crowd.

When you are a public speaker, you need to be confident enough to deliver a speech that is compelling and convincing whether the audience is large or small. A well-delivered speech does not only make the audience respond favorably, it also make the person delivering the speech feel like they are on top of the world.

Fear is a normal part of life. It is our defense mechanism that warns us upon impending danger. While in most cases of public speaking the danger does not apply, fear of looking foolish in front of great crowds is a normal reaction. Nobody is perfect, and a fear of making mistakes is what keeps millions of people from becoming public speakers.

No one who is a successful public speaker was born that way. Even the most seasoned speaker has had years of practice. There are many places where you can practice speaking; you can practice in front of a mirror, in your car on your way to work, or even in the shower. When you are ready to try your hand at speaking in front of people, use your family as the audience. Practice is the most powerful tool that can use to improve your public speaking skills.

In order to be a successful public speaker, you have to have confidence. This is something that is gained over time. When you practice, you are also building confidence. It is important that you overcome any fear of public speaking. If you give in to fear, it will take away any chance you have of becoming a public speaker. When you overcome your fear, you are effectively eliminating any limitations you may have.

Nobody in this world is perfect. The majority of people who have a fear of public speaking have that fear because they see flaws within themselves. They are afraid that they will fail; therefore they do not even try.

The power of the mind is an incredible thing. If you can convince yourself that you can succeed at public speaking, you are taking the necessary steps to improve your life. Having a positive attitude will only aid in your quest for a successful public speaking career.

How Did The Wealthy Forex Traders Become So Successful?

Author: James Woolley

Not many forex traders manage to achieve full financial independence through trading the forex markets but a small minority of people do actually manage to make money from this occupation. In fact some people have become millionaires through forex trading, so how did they achieve this feat and what qualities do they possess?

Well I think the major quality that many top forex traders possess is discipline. They will have a set trading system in place that they rigidly stick to every single trading day and they will never deviate from this system. This takes a lot of doing and is indeed the downfall of so many aspiring forex traders. It's all to easy to lose your discipline and make rash trading decisions after a few consecutive losing trades, but the successful professional trader will not do this because they will have full confidence in their preferred trading system in the long run.

This brings me on to my next point which is the actual trading system itself. Obviously if you are going to be successful you need to have your own profitable trading system in place. This is a major obstacle in itself because it can take many years to come up with a system that generates consistent profits.

However it should be said that you should not be wasting your time chasing that one outstanding forex system that has a 90-100% win ratio and will set you up for life. This holy grail system simply doesn't exist, and in fact you can still make excellent profits and a comfortable full-time living trading a system with a much lower win/loss ratio.

The key is to use strict money management rules first of all so you should only be risking 2-3% of your bank on any one trade. Secondly you should employ stop losses and target prices that maximise your profits. For example using a stop loss of 50 points and a target price of 100 points, for instance, is often a better option that using a straight 50 point stop loss and target price because it means you need a fewer number of winners to losers in order for a system to generate profits.

Top professional traders will tweak their stop losses and will often find a way of letting their trades run for as long as possible in order to maximise their profits. This is crucial because even the most basic of systems can potentially be made profitable by cutting the losing trades early and letting the winners run.

So the overall point is that if you want to become a profitable forex trader yourself, you should find a solid trading system first of all and then optimise this system by doing a lot of backtesting and optimising the stop losses and target prices in order to maximise your gains. As long as you are disciplined and stick rigidly to this system then there's no reason why you can't join the small group of wealthy forex traders.

Gobal Warming Induced Heat Waves Are More Deadly Than A Killer Virus

Author: James Nash

A record heat wave scorched Europe in August 2003, claiming an estimated 65,000 lives. In France alone, 17,622 people died from the searing temperatures, more than 19 times the death toll from the SARS epidemic worldwide. In the worst heat spell in decades, temperatures in France soared to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) and remained unusually high for two weeks.

This summer's high temperatures also hit other European countries. Germany saw some 9,000 people die from the heat. Spain and Italy each suffered heat-related losses of nearly 7,300 lives. The heat wave claimed at least 1,900 lives in Portugal and up to 2,400 lives in the Netherlands.

In London - which on August 10th recorded its first triple-digit Fahrenheit temperature - an estimated 1,600 people died from the heat. Heat-related fatalities across the United Kingdom reached 2,045. In Belgium, temperatures higher than any in the Royal Meteorological Society's register dating back to 1833 brought 150 deaths. Since reports are not available for all European countries, the total heat death toll for the continent is likely to be substantially larger.

August 2003 was the warmest August on record in the northern hemisphere, but according to the projections of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), even more extreme weather events lie ahead. By the end of the century, the world's average temperature is projected to increase by 2.5-10.4 degrees Fahrenheit (1.4-5.8 degrees Celsius). As the mercury climbs, more frequent and more severe heat waves are in store.

Though heat waves rarely are given adequate attention, they claim more lives each year than floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes combined. Heat waves are a silent killer, mostly affecting the elderly, the very young, or the chronically ill.

Under normal circumstances, humans maintain a body temperature around 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. When subject to extreme heat, the body attempts to maintain this ideal temperature by varying blood circulation and perspiring. When the internal body temperature rises above 104 degrees Fahrenheit, vital organs are at risk. If the body temperature is not brought down, death follows.

The threshold ambient temperature at which more people are at risk for heat-related health problems varies greatly by location. In general, when summer temperatures range 10 degrees Fahrenheit or more above the norm, incidences of heat-related illness increase dramatically. High humidity compounds the effects of high heat by reducing evaporation, rendering perspiration a less-effective cooling mechanism. When excessive heat prevails for more than two consecutive days, the risk of heat sickness and death escalates. Health and social services may be overwhelmed.

Heat waves take the greatest human toll in cities. Urban centers, where the area of heat-absorbing dark roofs and pavement exceeds the area covered by cooling vegetation, are like "heat islands" and can be as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the surrounding countryside. While people in rural areas generally get some relief from the heat when temperatures fall at night, urban areas stay warmer around the clock. Air pollution, which usually is worse in cities than in the countryside, can also exacerbate the health-damaging effects of high temperatures by further stressing the body's respiratory and circulatory systems.

Several of the worst heat waves of the twentieth century occurred in U.S. cities. In 1955, an eight-day run of temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in Los Angeles left 946 people dead. In 1972, New York City suffered a two-week heat wave that claimed 891 lives. More recently, an extreme heat wave in Chicago in 1995 killed 739 people in a matter of days. Slow political recognition of the threat and an overloaded response system worsened the effects of the weather anomaly.

A lack of public recognition of the danger that high temperatures pose adds to the lethality of heat waves. Heat wave warnings often do not carry the weight of other natural disaster alerts. Except during major outbreaks, heat-related deaths often go unreported, and few governments systematically keep records of them.

Even once a heat wave has passed, politicians are reluctant to acknowledge its toll. Chicago's mayor denied the severity of the city's 1995 heat wave. In Europe, it took over a month for France's government to release heat wave fatality estimates that corroborated estimates from overwhelmed undertakers. Several neighboring governments are still challenging reports from medical examiners.

Even in India, where heat-related fatalities in the thousands during pre-monsoonal high temperatures are no longer uncommon, the National Disaster Management Cell does not classify heat waves as a natural disaster. While accurate data are hard to come by, it appears that India has seen the number of deaths due to heat climb over the years as populations have grown and temperatures have risen.

In May 2003, peak temperatures of 113-117 degrees Fahrenheit (45-49 degrees Celsius) claimed over 1,600 lives throughout the country. In the state of Andhra Pradesh alone, some 1,200 people died from the heat. A year earlier, a one-week heat wave with temperatures topping 122 degrees Fahrenheit took over 1,000 lives.

Over the last 25 years the average global temperature rose by 1 degree Fahrenheit, or 0.6 degrees Celsius. The IPCC's projected rise in temperature for this century is a global average, but the temperature is expected to rise more over land, where people live, than over sea. As temperatures continue to climb, the toll of heat waves in individual countries could jump from the thousands to the tens of thousands. The World Meteorological Organization estimates that the number of heat-related fatalities could double in less than 20 years.

Already we are seeing evidence of more frequent heat waves. In India, death tolls from heat that were recorded over an entire summer some 10 years ago are now occurring in just one week. In the United States, a 1998 study of summertime temperatures using data from 1949 to 1995 found that the frequency of extremely hot and humid days and the occurrence of multiple-day heat waves increased significantly during that period. Some of the increase is due to urbanization, a trend that is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

Although the historical data for heat waves leave much to be desired, we can say with confidence that the August heat wave in Europe has broken all records for heat-induced human fatalities. As awareness of the scale of this tragedy spreads, it is likely to generate pressure to reduce carbon emissions. For many of the millions who suffered through these record heat waves and the relatives of the tens of thousands who died, cutting carbon emissions is becoming a pressing personal issue.

Life Of A First Time Fantasy Football Owner

Author: Dish TV Expert

When I signed up for a fantasy football league the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew a lot about football and players from different teams around the league in general, but I had always cheered for certain players that I liked, and wished other players would just run into the goal post during games like Terrell Owens.

When a friend of mine asked me to join his Fantasy Football League, I figured what the heck all I do on Sunday’s is watch NFL games anyway.A couple of weeks later I received the confirmation email to go online and register my team name and set up my account before the fantasy league draft. Once I set up my account I noticed that you could actually rank the players in order that you wanted on your team. It seemed easy; I went through found players that are usually good playmakers, but after the 50th person there was still another 300+ names to sort through, so I just left it alone.

It was now two weeks before the draft and I was paying extra attention to the preseason football games just to make sure players I wanted to draft still looked good going into the regular season. I also paid attention to top rookie prospects especially wide receivers, running backs and quarterbacks. You know if they’re drafted in the first round of the real NFL draft they have a good chance of seeing some playing time if the person ahead of them on the depth chart goes down with an injury.

It was now draft day and my research was done, I had finally compiled a list of all the players I wanted to draft. With the second pick in the draft I selected QB Tom Brady from the New England Patriots, I also went on to get running backs Brian Westbrook (Eagles), Ryan Grant (Packers), Cedric Benson (Bengals), Darren Sproles (Chargers), Earnest Graham (Buccaneers) and Leon Washington (Jets). For receivers I picked up Reggie Wayne (Colts), DeSean Jackson (Eagles), Eddie Royal (Broncos), Devin Hester (Bears), and Donnie Avery (Rams). I only drafted one tight end Owen Daniels (Texans), one defense the Patriots, and one kicker David Akers (Eagles). With my last draft pick I selected Jake Delhomme (Panthers) as a backup quarterback since Brady spent all of last year on the sidelines.

Going into the season I thought I had a good team I was excited to see how the first week would go. One of the features of the fantasy league that I have learned drives you crazy is the scoring predictions, which I now know not to trust. For my first game it said I was favored to win the game 101-92 and made me feel like even more of a draft whiz. First time playing and it already looked like I was going to win my first game.

When the first week of the NFL season started, I found myself watching, but wondering in the back of my head how my players were doing. Then I remembered one of the guys said on Dish Network the NFL Network channel gives you up to date stats on players for the 1pm and 4pm games. So every commercial I was jumping to the channel to see how my players were doing. It kind of felt like I was an actual owner of a team minus all the money and the luxury booth.

After the 1 o’clock games I logged into my ESPN fantasy football account just to see what time my other players were on. That’s when I noticed there was a stat tracker already on the website that gives you up to the minute live scoring for your players. When the 1 o’clock games ended I was losing 60 to 35 and it didn’t look good. The predictions now said I would lose 101 to 89. I had 4 players left and the other team had 5, so throughout the 4pm games I was constantly looking at my laptop while watching the games on TV. Needless to say my wife was not too happy. At the end of the day I was up 94 to 84, going into Monday nights game we both had one player left. I was confident I would win, but as I had learned earlier in the day fantasy football scores can change negatively in an instant.

When I got home from work on Monday I did my fatherly duties made sure the kids homework was done, helped make dinner, and enjoyed time with family before putting the kids to bed. By the time the game started I already had my laptop open so I could track my player points throughout the game. I went on to win my first game 106 to 89 and felt like a proud owner. That’s all it took, after week one I was hooked and couldn’t wait for the next week to start.

Over the next couple of weeks I learned that when a team is on their bye week so is your player, which I was not prepared for (I know I’m an idiot). I went on to lose my next three games before deciding I had to make some trades to improve my team, so I traded QB Jake Delhomme and TE Owen Daniels for TE Chris Cooley (Redskins) and RB Rashard Mendenhall (Steelers). After that I dropped WR Avery and picked up WR Mike-Sims-Walker (Jaguars) off the free agents list. Since the trades I have won two games in a row and stand at 3-3 going into week seven.

I don’t watch the stats on my laptop as much as did, I only check it about 5 times a game now, which I think is reasonable even though my wife says it’s still too much. I now see why over the year’s fantasy football has become so popular. Before I just liked to make sure I was home to watch my favorite team play on Sundays, and followed other teams just to see if I could figure out who would make it to the Super Bowl. Now not only do I watch my favorite team every Sunday, I also enjoy the up and down roller coaster ride of watching my fantasy team perform every weekend.

The Art of Balancing Career and Family

Author: Kris Nickerson

"For women, balancing a career and family doesn't have to be a high wire act - it just requires a bit of juggling," says Laura Betterly, CEO of In Touch Media Group, Inc. (www.intouchmediagroup.com), a full-service marketing company that specializes in using the Internet as a public relations and advertising tool. "Prioritization, organization, and delegation are key to achieving the balance that allows a woman to enjoy a rich family life while also gaining fulfillment from her career."

Betterly knows whereof she speaks. With a husband and two teenage boys, Betterly is among the 72 percent of mothers with children one year or older who are in the workforce. While acknowledging that her high-powered career allows her to take advantage of services that aren't accessible to lower income mothers, Betterly maintains that every woman can develop the skills necessary to balance work and family.

"Prioritizing is the process of realizing that you can't do it all, deciding what's important, and not sweating the small stuff," Betterly says. Although she likes to provide her family with home-cooked meals, Betterly would rather spend time with her sons than in front of the stove every night. "I go to a place called Get Cooking Now, where I can make twelve dishes in their kitchen all at once," she says. "I bring them home, freeze them, and am able to give my family good, nutritious meals without a lot of preparation time or mess."

Betterly also carves out more family time by being organized and streamlining other household tasks. "I do all of our personal banking and bill paying online, and use Quicken to track all of our expenditures and due dates," she says. And, if you're on Betterly's gift list, you can count on the fact that what's inside the box came from an online source. "I utilize the Internet for gift shopping, especially at holiday time," she says. "I can find everything I'm looking for online, and I'd rather spend time with my husband and sons than traipse through shopping malls."

Finally, Betterly is a firm believer in delegation. "Each member of the family has a list of jobs to do around the house, like taking out the garbage, washing the clothes, and doing the dishes," she says. "By delegating chores, the boys have learned that their contributions are important to our family, and that we have more time for fun."

And what does Betterly, her husband Steve Blom, and sons Craig and Chris do with their extra time? "We go to movies, concerts, visit friends, and barbecue," she says. "Plus, I'm getting pretty good at play the Digital Dance Revolution video game with the boys."

Betterly concludes, "As women, we don't have to make a choice between work and family. With a few skills and some practice, we can juggle the two beautifully."
